Meet Tully

Hello, my name is Tully and I'm a fully qualified Pilates Instructor. Through Centred Pilates I would like to share with you my enthusiasm for and the benefits of Pilates!

                             My journey to Pilates -

I have long had an interest in posture and how it effects movement potential and tension patterns. I have often observed how we feel and move, not only effects us physically, but also mentally.

I have a history in relating this to animal behaviour and performance.  When I was a TTEAM/ TTouch practitioner working with horses and companion animals I not only learnt to observe the horse, but also the rider and how this influenced the horses way of moving. I guess this started to hone my eye for noticing imbalances and the ricochet effect this has on both horse and rider.                                                                  My journey to becoming a Pilates teacher started with a knee injury. After surgery and numerous physio and specialist appointments I still had a considerable amount of pain and a reduced range of movement.  I have always been an active person and it was really effecting my mental wellbeing. It was at this point that I discovered Pilates.                                                                 I started to find that moving with Pilates was allowing my body to increase mobility and strength without aggravating my knee pain and swelling. With time I started to feel the benefits of Pilates not just in my knee, but also elsewhere in my body. I was feeling stronger, looking more toned and had fewer aches and pains.                                                                                       It was the realisation that Pilates had helped me so much that made me want to become a Pilates teacher. I believe movement heals, you just need to listen to your body and find a way to move that doesn't cause you pain. This is why I love Pilates, it can be adapted to suit you where you are at and how you are feel in that moment, whilst gradually getting you closer to where you like to be.
